VSCO Film Closing

VSCO Film is being discontinued. VSCO-X is a subscription service available only on mobile devices at $19.99 USD/yr.

Moving away from desktop apps and concentrating on their mobile community means that after 1st March 2019 film emulation presets, often used in Lightroom and Photoshop will be discontinued. They are still available today in the VSCO Store but the message is that if you have preset packs in your VSCO account you need to download copies, unless you have already done so.

Here is a link to a VSCO Support Document

I have found a couple of on-line reviews of VSCO-X for those that may be interested in the mobile service.

Or go directly to VSCO to get a subscription:

How to Install Photoshop Elements 2019 - Windows

Go to the link at the bottom of the page and download the package of installation files for 64 bit Windows.

Wait for the download to complete and then find the zip folder inside your Downloads Folder

Click the Extract button

Wait for the progress bar to complete

Then double-click on Set-up (Application) to start the installation

Select your preferred language and installation location and click the Continue button. It’s best to use the default location for maximum efficiency as Elements uses a number of system files and folders on the main C: drive.

The installer will launch and a progress bar will be displayed

The Home screen will launch automatically when installation is complete and you can simply click on the Photo Editor button to launch the Editor application.

On first launch you may be prompted to update the Camera Raw plug-in as Elements ships with an earlier version. Simply click the Install Now button.

Compare Adobe Photography Plans

A regular question is what is the difference between Lightroom and Lightroom Classic.

Lightroom is the all-new app that runs on desktop and mobile devices with the power of artificial intelligence. It comes with 1TB of storage space and lets you easily edit, organize, store and share your full resolution photos anywhere.

Creative Cloud Photography Plan is traditional desktop software which runs a Lightroom Classic catalog with originals stored in folders on your computer, and supporting complex workflows. This plan also includes the all-new Lightroom and Photoshop. Storage space starts at 20GB or optionally, 1TB at an extra cost. The 1TB option may suit those who want the features of Lightroom and the ability to also edit in Photoshop. Or those who shoot lots of phone images, needing automatic upload from the mobile app.

The Lightroom Plan and Creative Cloud Photography Plan both come with web access for sharing. All files are automatically synchronized from Lightroom to mobile phones, tablets and the web. Lightroom Classic requires the manual creation of synchronized collections for web and device usage. Click the Adobe link below to make a comparison.

Lightroom CC dot Release - December 2018

Adobe released the 2.1 update a few days ago but has since found a potential sync issue. They have quickly pushed out this dot dot release (v2.1.1) to fix the issue. The update can be installed from the Apps tab in Creative Cloud desktop. It may take time to roll out to all regions otherwise from the Apps tab click the three dots menu (top-right) to check for app updates. That should refresh everything.
