Unusually for Apple in today’s keynote we get a sneak
peak of the forthcoming “iMac Pro”. Its
dark grey instead of silver like the updated regular iMacs and it does look
cool.
Apple also announced the next Mac OS “High Sierra” and
iOS11 for tablets and phones. The iPad Pro will have an enhanced refresh rate giving
an almost instant response when using the Apple pencil. Apple has also informed
us that Serif is immediately releasing Affinity Photo for the iPad including
the ability to work with layers. The ability to drag & drop also comes to
the iPad.
Home Pod is a new deep base speaker from Apple Music
featuring ambient energy to revolutionise music listening in the home.
The app Store is getting a complete revamp with a “Today”
page featuring the latest apps and games. Apple Pay brings personal peer to
peer encrypted payments.
An upgraded Safari will become the fastest web browser ever.
This is a minor update which fixes the unusual error
messaging when editing externally in Photoshop from the Lightroom Library. There
are no new features, but new camera and lens support has been added.
Fixed Bug
- Inaccurate message when using Edit-In Photoshop
-Adobe has corrected this issue and you should no longer be receiving this
error message. Since the
update of Lightroom to CC2015.10 and Camera Raw to 9.10 (within Photoshop
CC2017.1), there was a warning message when using the option to Edit in
Photoshop, that ACR 9.10 may be required, even though ACR 9.10 had already been
installed.
Simultaneously with this dot release of the Lightroom desktop
application, Adobe has issued updates for Lightroom Mobile.
Android
-HDR support for the Samsung S8 and S8+. Full list of
supported cameras now Samsung S7, S7 Edge, S8, S8+, Google Pixel, and Google
Pixel XL.
-Improved HDR quality and ghost reduction
-Support for latest cameras and lenses found in the ACR 9.10.1 release
-General stability improvements
iOS
-A fix that resolves an issue that affected some users with photographs named
with special characters
-A fix for a bug that caused a crash for some users when relaunching the app
-A fix for loading images into Lightroom for iOS from Google Photos or Snapseed
-A fix that resolves an issue when loading images that were synced to Apple
Photos from iTunes
-Support for latest cameras and lenses found in the ACR
9.10.1 release
-General stability improvements
With a
corresponding release of an ACR update for Photoshop CC this is a minor update
adding new camera and lens support and some bug fixes.

Mac users will be pleased to hear that Adobe
has made progress in fixing the black panel issue and have reduced the chances
that you will see the issue again. This was mainly intermittent, often fixed by
tabbing or clicking the dock icon, but requiring some users to quit and
re-start the application.
Adobe Announces versions 2.3 (Android) and 2.7 (iOS)
This release includes HDR capture for compatible cameras. Subscribers to
Creative Cloud or Photography Plan have access to the selective
adjustment tools and it’s cool to be able to switch between linear and radial
filters using a single icon.Once a selective adjustment
has been added to an image, I like the ability to click the edit pin to quickly
duplicate or tweak the effect on another area of the image; simply by dragging.

Speed Flagging (the improvement/reintroduction of)
Lightroom Mobile continues to
evolve in the right direction and the latest enhancements to the built-in Adobe
Camera app compliment the Professional Mode and DNG capture capability with
compatible cameras on devices such as some iPhone 6 & 7 models, Samsung Galaxy S7 and
iPad Pro 9.7. The video below demonstrates the benefits of DNG captureand how to shoot in the raw format.
It should be noted that capturing
in the High Dynamic Range DNG format will result in larger files requiring future
devices with more storage and sufficient RAM for processing.
I have not been able to test this new feature as my older Galaxy Note
does not have a 12mp supported camera, however the ability to shoot HDR images in DNG format is unlike
any other camera app.
