How to set up an App Specific Password to use Gmail with Lightroom Classic.

In a web browser log-in to your Google account and choose Manage Account
On the left click Security

Go to App Passwords

Type Lightroom Classic and click the button to generate a password which will be specific to the Lightroom Classic application

Copy the 16 digit code - Ctrl+C (Cmd+C)

In the Lightroom Email manager choose Gmail and the SMTP fields should be populated automatically.

Enter your email address and click in the password field and use Ctrl+V (Cmd+V) to paste the 16 digit code in place of your usual gmail password. Click the validate button.

N.B. you can only set up application specific passwords if you already have 2-step security set up.

Also ensure POP & IMAP are enabled in your Gmail settings.

To get started select a thumbnail in the Lightroom Library, right-click and choose Email photo. You can add or edit your email account in the Email Account Manager dialog. Simply click the pull-down menu and choose Go to Email Account Manager.

  3. The problem I am having that I am not using two step verification, and the option for setting up App Passwords doesn't appear. I suppose I could turn on two step verification, but I don't want to have enter a code every single time I log into gmail just so I can connect it with LR. Is there a way around this?
