On Windows systems Photoshop Elements sometimes fails to
handle jpeg files with an error message “could not complete the request because
of a problem parsing the jpeg data”
This error message is often due to non-standard
exif metadata or jpeg images downloaded from websites.
It’s usually possible to open
these files via the Camera Raw dialog but the only permanent solution involves
editing the Windows Registry. Not everyone likes messing around in the registry
but it’s fairly straightforward. I’ve created an instructional video which you
will find at the YouTube link below. Only
edit the Windows registry if you are comfortable making the changes yourself.
